Two Is Better Than One

Really.  Two babies are better than one.  These boys play together all day long.  They make each other laugh, they "chase" each other around the house, they throw balls back and forth, they share food and for the most part they are on the same napping schedule.  I am so glad that they get along so well and can play so happily together.  My days still have their challenges, like when they are both having an "off" day or when they don't want to nap or eat whatever it is that I've made.  But now that Mom and Dad are getting a full nights sleep, sort of, (they sleep from about 6:30 pm until 5:30 am), our household seems to be functioning like a normal, less sleep deprived house, which makes everyone much happier!

Ten Months

At ten months we have two crawling babies!  They are still babbling lots saying "da-da" and "ma-ma" and are now clapping their hands together, which is absolutely adorable.  They also put their hand to their mouth and say "ba-ba-ba-ba" together.  When one is clapping, the other will clap right along with their brother.  Now that they can crawl they are playing peek-a-boo with each other by hiding behind the couch or another piece of furniture.  They are starting to pull themselves up on objects and will often climb on us.  They will sometimes now "fight" a diaper change, but with lots of singing and some toys I can usually distract them.  They prefer finger foods over spoon fed foods right now.

Jack weighs 20 lbs and Carter weighs 22 lbs.  However, whenever a stranger meets the boys they always think that Jack is the heavier one because his face is rounder (just like a Franck).

They still light up our day and keep us on our toes.  They have taught us so much in the past 10 months but most of all they have taught us about love.  Our love for them just keeps growing and growing.  I will sometimes go in and watch them sleep at the end of a long day and I can feel my eyes filling with tears.  I'm so in love.

9 Months

Trying to figure out this crawling thing.

Happy 9 months, Jack and Carter!  Over the past month the boys have had lots of new changes.  Jack got 4 bottom teeth (in a month!) and Carter has his two bottom teeth.  They are trying to crawl and get on all fours but can't move from there.  It's pretty cute to watch!  They had their second cold, which only lasted a few days, thank God!

It's been a fun month to watch all of the new changes.  We've loved watching them discover the world around them.

8 months

 New Hats.
 Brotherly Bond...Always Connected.
 Family
8 months of life lived and so many more ahead.  These babies are just so full of life, personality and joy.  They both had their first tooth come through at or around their 8 month birthday.  They are drooling buckets and chewing on everything in sight.  At 8 months we survived our first sickness.  Carter had a cold, which led to a double ear infection.  He handled it like a champ.  Soon thereafter, as any good brother would do, he shared it with Jack.  Jack showed signs of a cold (runny nose, sneezing, coughing) but it didn't turn into anything more.  Hooray for two strong immune systems!

We have started going to an infant playgroup at the library on Friday mornings.  The boys love the singing, book reading and playing with other babies.  It is so interesting to sit back and watch them play with others.  They are both constantly checking in on eachother and with me to make sure I'm still sitting behind them.  It's pretty cute.

We have increased our solid foods to 3 meals a day.  We enjoy fruit with oatmeal for breakfast, greek yogurt with fruit for lunch and a veggie for dinner.   I have yet to see them turn down any food that I offer them.

I'll update soom with more pictures of these sweet babies.

7 Months

The boys are 7 months old!  At 7 months they sit unassisted (but I still put support all around them because if they see something out of reach they're not afraid to tumble for it).  The boys play on the floor a lot and are starting to scooch on their bums in preparation for crawling.  They smile all day and love to laugh at silly noises. They are both saying daaaa, daaaa, daaaa and baaaa, baaaa, baaaa quite a bit.  And when I put a finger foods on their tray they are now able to pick it up and bring it to their mouths...one step closer to feeding themselves!

I am still serving them a variety of solid foods, most of which I make in my baby blender.  They seem to like just about anything I put in their mouths.  However, they tend to get constipated quite often so prunes are a popular breakfast food.

Our days are filled with morning, lunchtime and afternoon naps in between their bottles and meals.  Between two brothers and a dog they all do a pretty good job of entertaining themselves, which allows me to get some stuff done around the house.

We're looking forward to fall and watching their amazing developments.  I love that they can sit and play with their toys on the floor and am looking forward to watching them learn how to crawl.

We are 6 months old

The boys are now 6 months old, which is so hard for me to believe.  At 6 months they are almost sitting on their own, but still need support so they don't topple over.  They eat 6 ounce bottles every 3 hours during the day and enjoy two solid food "snacks" in the morning and afternoon, which they love.  I have finally stopped pumping (yahoo!!) so they are on 100% formula.  We switched to Earth's Best Organic formula and they are both doing great with it.  Jack's spit up/reflux is also getting better, thank God!  Our wallets have become even thinner with the absence of breastmilk.  We calculated that we spend about $15/day for formula...ouch!  It's no wonder Momma hasn't bought a new outfit in 6 months!  They go to bed at 8pm and wake up between 5 and 6am.  We still bathe the boys every night before bed.  It's a great way for the whole family to wind down.  Jack used to be a super sleeper but now Carter takes the prize for being a super sleeper.  Jack has been waking around 1 or 2 am and takes a bottle and then sleeps the rest of the night in the swing.  Our days consist of a morning walk in the stroller for about an hour.  Both boys usually fall asleep on the walk.  They play on the floor together, love their exersaucers and love to squeal and smile at each other.  They absolutely adore Hogan and will always smile and babble to him whenever he walks by.  No matter what their mood, they will always smile at Hogan.  It's amazing to watch!  They also LOVE Daddy!  When Daddy comes home the house erupts with smiles and excitement.  It's so fun to watch.
