Ten Months

At ten months we have two crawling babies!  They are still babbling lots saying "da-da" and "ma-ma" and are now clapping their hands together, which is absolutely adorable.  They also put their hand to their mouth and say "ba-ba-ba-ba" together.  When one is clapping, the other will clap right along with their brother.  Now that they can crawl they are playing peek-a-boo with each other by hiding behind the couch or another piece of furniture.  They are starting to pull themselves up on objects and will often climb on us.  They will sometimes now "fight" a diaper change, but with lots of singing and some toys I can usually distract them.  They prefer finger foods over spoon fed foods right now.

Jack weighs 20 lbs and Carter weighs 22 lbs.  However, whenever a stranger meets the boys they always think that Jack is the heavier one because his face is rounder (just like a Franck).

They still light up our day and keep us on our toes.  They have taught us so much in the past 10 months but most of all they have taught us about love.  Our love for them just keeps growing and growing.  I will sometimes go in and watch them sleep at the end of a long day and I can feel my eyes filling with tears.  I'm so in love.

9 Months

My Little Jack in the Box
Visiting Auntie Jana and Grammy Gwen
 Morning Laughter
Trying to figure out this crawling thing.

Happy 9 months, Jack and Carter!  Over the past month the boys have had lots of new changes.  Jack got 4 bottom teeth (in a month!) and Carter has his two bottom teeth.  They are trying to crawl and get on all fours but can't move from there.  It's pretty cute to watch!  They had their second cold, which only lasted a few days, thank God!

It's been a fun month to watch all of the new changes.  We've loved watching them discover the world around them.

8 months

 New Hats.
 Brotherly Bond...Always Connected.
 Family
8 months of life lived and so many more ahead.  These babies are just so full of life, personality and joy.  They both had their first tooth come through at or around their 8 month birthday.  They are drooling buckets and chewing on everything in sight.  At 8 months we survived our first sickness.  Carter had a cold, which led to a double ear infection.  He handled it like a champ.  Soon thereafter, as any good brother would do, he shared it with Jack.  Jack showed signs of a cold (runny nose, sneezing, coughing) but it didn't turn into anything more.  Hooray for two strong immune systems!

We have started going to an infant playgroup at the library on Friday mornings.  The boys love the singing, book reading and playing with other babies.  It is so interesting to sit back and watch them play with others.  They are both constantly checking in on eachother and with me to make sure I'm still sitting behind them.  It's pretty cute.

We have increased our solid foods to 3 meals a day.  We enjoy fruit with oatmeal for breakfast, greek yogurt with fruit for lunch and a veggie for dinner.   I have yet to see them turn down any food that I offer them.

I'll update soom with more pictures of these sweet babies.

7 Months

The boys are 7 months old!  At 7 months they sit unassisted (but I still put support all around them because if they see something out of reach they're not afraid to tumble for it).  The boys play on the floor a lot and are starting to scooch on their bums in preparation for crawling.  They smile all day and love to laugh at silly noises. They are both saying daaaa, daaaa, daaaa and baaaa, baaaa, baaaa quite a bit.  And when I put a finger foods on their tray they are now able to pick it up and bring it to their mouths...one step closer to feeding themselves!

I am still serving them a variety of solid foods, most of which I make in my baby blender.  They seem to like just about anything I put in their mouths.  However, they tend to get constipated quite often so prunes are a popular breakfast food.

Our days are filled with morning, lunchtime and afternoon naps in between their bottles and meals.  Between two brothers and a dog they all do a pretty good job of entertaining themselves, which allows me to get some stuff done around the house.

We're looking forward to fall and watching their amazing developments.  I love that they can sit and play with their toys on the floor and am looking forward to watching them learn how to crawl.

We are 6 months old

The boys are now 6 months old, which is so hard for me to believe.  At 6 months they are almost sitting on their own, but still need support so they don't topple over.  They eat 6 ounce bottles every 3 hours during the day and enjoy two solid food "snacks" in the morning and afternoon, which they love.  I have finally stopped pumping (yahoo!!) so they are on 100% formula.  We switched to Earth's Best Organic formula and they are both doing great with it.  Jack's spit up/reflux is also getting better, thank God!  Our wallets have become even thinner with the absence of breastmilk.  We calculated that we spend about $15/day for formula...ouch!  It's no wonder Momma hasn't bought a new outfit in 6 months!  They go to bed at 8pm and wake up between 5 and 6am.  We still bathe the boys every night before bed.  It's a great way for the whole family to wind down.  Jack used to be a super sleeper but now Carter takes the prize for being a super sleeper.  Jack has been waking around 1 or 2 am and takes a bottle and then sleeps the rest of the night in the swing.  Our days consist of a morning walk in the stroller for about an hour.  Both boys usually fall asleep on the walk.  They play on the floor together, love their exersaucers and love to squeal and smile at each other.  They absolutely adore Hogan and will always smile and babble to him whenever he walks by.  No matter what their mood, they will always smile at Hogan.  It's amazing to watch!  They also LOVE Daddy!  When Daddy comes home the house erupts with smiles and excitement.  It's so fun to watch.

Fun Boys!

 Baby Jack
 Carter Bean
We can roll across the room now!  We've already had a few rolling accidents, which makes me realize that I need to baby proof this house from top to bottom.
Have I mentioned before that Jack has a lot of energy?!?!   You should have heard the squeals that went along with this picture.  Carter is practicing some pilates poses here.  These boys are so flexible...I'm jealous!
 My Jackie
Carter, straight chillin'

I can't believe my boys are almost 6 months old already!  I have been speaking to a friend of mine who just had twins a month ago and she was asking me quesitons about handling twin newborns.  I couldn't believe how much stuff I already forgot.  I guess it all just becomes a blur when you're caring for infant twins.

We've been enjoying long walks each morning followed by afternoon outdoor time.  I bring the boys out and lay them on a blanket in the grass and they stare up at the trees.  I love watching them take in the world all around them.  We brought the boys to their first hockey game last week.  They didn't take their eyes off the ice for the entire game!  We also decided to venture the beach a few weekends back to escape the heat.  It sounded fun in theory but I don't think we'll be taking them to the beach again until they can walk and enjoy it.  It was a ton of work for us and they could have cared less about being there.

Next weeknd we're heading to Boston to visit friends and I'm SO excited!  I can't wait to get back there and to bring my new family to a place that means so much to Mommy and Daddy (and Hogan too).

Playtime with the twins

Carter, our silly little boy.  Carter squeals and smiles all day.  He has such a calm, relaxed demeanor.  He is easily spooked (loud noises, Hogan's bark, a sneeze...pretty much anything) and is so in touch with Jack and his feelings.  Whenever Jack cries he'll always cry.  A huge smile comes to his face whenever he see's his brother.  He is going to be a really friendly little boy with a big, sensitive heart.
Jack, our little ball of energy and laughter.  Jack can laugh, like a hysterical laugh.  When he gets excited his legs and arms kick and move and he squeals with joy.  When Daddy comes home he gets so excited and smiles and laughs.  He stands, rolls and is trying to sit on his own.  He is going to be a boy on the move who loves to be right in the middle of all of the action.

I'm LOVING this age right now.  We are so fortunate to have two healthy, handsome, happy babies and I wouldn't have it any other way.  They are our world.

We are...

 We are 5 months old!!
Mom and Dad let us eat our first solid food this weekend!  We ate bananas and we LOVED them.  Now we have a banana every morning and afternoon and it's so delicious.  This weekend Mom is making us Sweet Potatoes...mmmm!
We love to watch our Daddy work in the yard.  We can't wait to get out there and play with him when we're older.
We love to laugh at our Mommy.  She is so funny!
We roll all over the place!

Life with two five month old babies is so fun!  They are such great entertainment for us and for each other.  And, to top it all off they are now sleeping 10 hours (Jack) and 8 hours (Carter) each night, which makes for a rested and happy Mommy.  Feeding them solid foods has been so exciting.  I wasn't sure how they would react but they both gobble it right up.  I love my little boys to pieces.

We laugh, roll, tumble and bounce

 I laugh!
I know how to melt Mommy's heart.
Getting ready to head out with Mommy.  We went to the grocery store and couldn't make it past one old lady without being stopped and admired.

It's nonstop action here at the Gordon household with these happy babies!  They are rolling all over the place, tumbling around, loving being bounced and put in the air for "flying baby."  We had our 4 month appointment last week and Carter weighs 17 lbs and Jack weighs 15 lbs.  They are both doing great, which is always so wonderful to hear.  We're getting out of the house quite a bit these days for morning errands and then an afternoon walk.  I'd love to bring them to the beach, especially with the warmer weather we're having but I am not sure I'm ready to venture to the beach alone with two infants yet.  We'll see if I can get the courage someday this summer.

We're still alive!

All the cousins together at last!  It was so fun bringing all of the cousins together earlier this month.  On the couch you have Carter, Jack, Lydia, Josiah and Sally.  A whole bunch of Gordon's and one baby Hall.
4 1/2 month old baby Jack.  They are looking so much older to me lately.
Carter Bean

So, I know I've been terrible about blogging lately, but there is a reason.  In an effort so save every penny we have so that I can be a stay at home mommy we have decided to get rid of internet at our home.  It's so difficult!!  I didn't realize how often I was on the computer for everything from staying connected through email and facebook to researching random baby things on babycenter.com.  I miss it terribly, to say the least.  But, it's one of the many things that we're able to give up so that these boys can be home with Mom all day.  I still plan to keep up with the blog, just not as often as I'd like.

Anyway, things here are going very well!  We are having a blast watching our two little ones grow and discover new things.  They are both rolling over now!!  It's so fun to watch how strong they get so quickly but also so scary to think that before I know it they'll be crawling!  Our house is filled with lots of laughter and chatter as these two go back and forth "talking" all day.

Looking ahead:  This afternoon we have our four month doctor's appointment to get shots and this weekend we're going to start solid foods!!  Their first solid will be a banana and I can't wait to see how they react.

I'll update again shortly, hopefully with a video of the twins chatting.

4 months old and 32 years young

On May 23rd the boys turned 4 months old.  A few fun facts to share about our four month old babies:

Jack:  We got our first laugh out of Jack when we were out shopping one day.  It was absolutely amazing and brought tears to my eyes.  Baby laughs are the best.  I'm not sure how I ever lived without them for 32 years.

Carter:  He is full of smiles from the moment he wakes up to the moment you lay him down in the crib to sleep.  He loves to squeal and coo and his brother.  He's also always blowing bubbles and looking to get anyone to laugh at him.
Precious Jack.  He has the sweetest face and the best smile.  Love this little boy.
Sweet Carter.  Full of personality and fun.
 Jack just melts my heart.

On May 26th I celebrated my 32nd birthday!  Grammy Terri and Papa John came to visit and we went out for lobster rolls for lunch.  Then on Sunday we went to our friend's camp on a lake and enjoyed great company and a delicous birthday cake.  It felt great to celebrate my first birthday as a Mom with my two most precious gifts.
Hogan, who has turned the corner and become a great dog lately.  He has been so patient and has adapted well to our new life.  He spends a lot of time outside hanging out in the front yard and when he's inside he'll just hang around and not cause trouble.  He has had a history of destroying something in the house when left alone but (knock on wood) no longer does this.  I can leave him for several hours and will come home to a good dog.  I think he must know that life is different now and has finally accepted the babies and the slower pace.
He still gets to do lots of fun things though.  Here he is playing in the pond with Jared.
